Shamanic Pathways 03 - The Spirits in my Life.

Welcome to another ramble on shamanism and my footsteps upon this path!

It took me a little while to understand the statement: 'no spirits, no shaman.' I thought 'but I can do it without them!' And I am grateful that I know differently these days.

I have a few spirit helpers who are willing to walk with me on my spiritual journeys, a few gods that I visit, or who visit me, and a few 'acquaintances' in the otherworlds who, for trade (usually), will offer a wealth of knowledge, access, wisdom, g… Continue

Shamanic Pathways 02 - Emugirl

I was describing the story of the emugirls, as I had learnt them, to a fellow artist and user on DeviantArt, and it occurred to me that it wouldn't hurt to share them here too.

I first met a solo emugirl by a stand of sheoaks or casuarina trees. She was hiding in one of the lower branches, and materialised wild and shaggy. Her eyes were bright, large and lucid. Her mane of hair continued down her back and fla… Continue

Shamanic Pathways 01 - Unleashing.

My animal companion, or 'pet', Moet - a champagne tabby - has spent most of today lounging in the sunbeams by the blinds I left open specifically for him. Specifically so he could lounge in front of them.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that I live with a feline who has the leashed spirit of tigers and lions inside of him, until of course I see him playing, or his blown black pupils pop up over my bed, a second before he wraps himself around my foot, all claws and teeth.

We too, are humans with… Continue

Basic Animistic House Blessing

I figured I'd write up a version of the house blessing I used tonight over our first cooked meal in our new place. It is animistic in nature, meaning that instead of honouring specific gods or goddesses, or as well as honouring these, it honoured house / land / mineral spirits etc. as well.

I cooked the meal with a view to creating a healthful and sacred experience. This kept me grounded throughout which helped. I consciously opened up my energy to the spirits around me. I felt the spirits conn… Continue

How to Journey in neo-Shamanism

Note: Not based on core shamanism theory.

How to Journey

Journeying is the act of letting your spirit (or soul, or spirit twin, or part of your soul, depending on your belief system) travel to the otherworlds. Though the lines can blur between journeying and visualisation, the difference is largely that in the former, you travel outside of the body into external worlds and in the latter, you work within the body and the psyche, in an inner universe.

Journeying is common in many shamani… Continue

I am so glad you joined! Welcome!

By the way, about two weeks ago I odered some 5"x7" prints of Sugar Glider, Kookaburra and Goat. Thy arrived a week later and they are now gracing my altars-- except for Sugar Glider who has place of honour above Laylah's house. She thanks you and says you can definitely share tomatoes with her any time! And I thank you too, I adore your art!

Oh, and JT is coming by to take photos of the polymer clay beads and stuff tomorrow so I'll post those pix soon. :-)

This is a good question, I unfortunately can't answer it. I have told no-one except for the people on here. My son knows as he was living with me until a year or so ago and it was just too hard to hide my path from him. I have not told anyone for a…

A simple addressment of my first post to you would have cleared things up instead of your on-going and at times irrelevant other comments. I believe I did address your first post, but clearly you don't. If you could please find another way to expla…

Gia, you are straying out of debating the opinions, into attacking the person, please refrain from doing this. It's inappropriate and simply unnecessary. Implying that I am 'wearing blinkers' is a personal attack. Christians follow Christ and Chris…

The Saga Continues....

Well, the RSPCA Inspector came about an hour ago now. It took 10 minutes to wake BJ from his hidy-hole next door. They've taken him down to the vet.

Grant got home about 10 - 20 minutes after they left. He went off his nut. I told him if he hit me or got aggressive with me I would phone the police. Once again it was all my fault. He reckons he can get BJ back, but that isn't an option. He tried to phone the RSPCA office but they are shut for lunch, so he has gone down there.

Basically he has t… Continue

An Update of the Cat

I've managed to have a good look at BJ and the rubber band issue. It really does need to come off. He's a wriggler so I'm going to wrap him in my quilt and hold him down while I take it off. It's not done any damage that I can see.

I keep telling my housemate that it is classed as cruelty to animals and last night I told him I would be phoning the RSPCA first thing in the morning and reporting him (I had no response to lodging the complaint through their website). He proceeded to tell me that i… Continue

I hate people who are cruel to animals

My housemate has just tried to desex his male cat himself by typing a rubber band around it's balls. As far as I'm concerned that's not on so I went to the RSPCA website and reported him. I told him I would and he didn't believe me. He's now trying to get the cat out from under the house.

I got so upset when he did it. I think I get more upset when I see people cruel to animals than I do when people are cruel to each other. It's something that I really really hate and am passionate about stoppi… Continue

Yep, finally decided to do it...

Change my name that is. (I bet you were thinking something rude...lol).

I've been thinking about changing my name for most of the year. My name does not represent who I am now. My name was given to my by my Mother. My Mother and I are currently astranged, although I'm hoping that will change in years to come.

I've decided on two names. One will be my witchy name, that I use on the forums and any writing, pagan crafts, etc, I do. The other will be my new legal name. Both names will be connected… Continue

Popping my blogging cherry...

So, i'm completely newb-ish at the art of blogging. I had a live journal once, a long, long time ago (back when life had me in fits of laughter at every turn, and therefore worthy of publicising =/)... but lately i've been yearning for an outlet. Life's not throwing me so much comedy anymore; but i guess my small tragedies are equally worthy of public viewing... even if it's to have someone else to laugh at them.

Okay. So i've moved town; was in Melbourne, now in Bendigo. It's a nice place, as… Continue
