I'm Nika, a solitary witch and student living in Chapel Hill (Brisbane's west side). I was born into a bohemian tradition (as in Czech, not musicians and artisans), however am eclectic and interested in learning more every day. My heart and spirit thrive in Nature and I specialise in healing works, particularly using our wonderful phyto-friends. I adore learning and believe that is what we are meant to do during our lives so as to continue growing, evolving, and bettering ourselves, Nature, our home and environment.
Formally, I had studied psychological science, and am currently undergoing a bachelor of health science in Naturopathy. The healing power of Nature is something I truly believe in and am happy to devout this life to. However, I'll be completing that course secondary and part time to a new course commencing next semester, which I'll be completing to better understand the theoretical aspects of what I believe and practice practically. This will be a dual arts/science degree, where I'll major in religious studies (arts) and plant science (science). In short, I've formed a 'witchy' university course to allow me to better understand the academic, research and intellectual side of what I believe.
Informally, I enjoy learning about the history and philosophy of paganism in all its forms, its social and anthropological context, the psychological effects of spiritualism in general, occultism, natural healing, mythology, folklore, traditional fairytales, and the evolution of witchcraft. Essentially, I'll happily read anything relevant I'll come across, and my beliefs, ideas and theories change with every moonphase.
I'm an avid animal lover, and believe we would not have survived without our wonderful animal companions, therefore need to treat them with the respect, understanding and love they deserve. I'm a vegetarian as a result, however do respect the balance required in Nature and don't support forced-vegetarian diets on animals (especially felines) which are physiologically adapted for primarily carnivourous diets. Balance in Nature is essential, and meat-eaters function as recyclers, however the methods humans use today destroy any hope of balance within the natural and animal kingdoms (aka mass fishing, meat farming etc). Being a Libra, I'm prone to seeking out balance and harmony in life, despite the fact that this is often difficult to find, much less achieve. Oh well, as Dory sings "just keep swimming, swimming, swimming", right?
I share my home with two gorgeous kitties, Bingo and Selene, and a stunning blue and pink Betta fish, Schmendrick II. I also live with one of my best friends in a gorgeous home surrounded by parks and with a semi-bush for a backyard, and creek as a fence! I feel truly blessed and thank the gods almost daily for our little paradise (which we did not qualify for when we applied haha). We'll soon be adding to our little family with a puppy, a source of major excitement for both of us. I'll also love to have a baby, a little girl who will be named Lilly, however know that this must wait. Hopefully not for too much longer....

I have not been around much of late because ...
I have been working on my very first book in an attempt to have it ready for publication in the new year. However it is an extremely slow process when full time work, organising an active coven and all my other responsibilities often take precedent ... but I am getting there slowly.
