THE TRUTHS AND TALES
ABOUT PAGANS
Pagans do not work with the Devil: -
In fact they do not have a Devil / Satan or
any concept of an all-evil deity in their
religion. Earth based religions are based on
the balance of all things and view the God
and the Goddess equally.
A Pentacle/Pentagram is not a symbol for
evil: - A pentacle is a five pointed star
surrounded by a circle. This represents the
four elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water
and the fifth is Ether, being the spirit. The
pentacle is an amulet and a symbol for
protection. In some traditions it is used
inverted to show differing degrees of
initiation.
Heathen and Pagan: - These names are not
something to be ashamed of. Heathen means
dweller on the heath, and Pagan means one
who lives on the land. These terms only
became popular to describe followers of the
old religion, as the new religion was only
followed in the large towns and in the Royal
Courts. The continuation of the old faith
was with those who worked on the land and
retained contact with the God and Goddess.
Witches do not practice evil- Many
believe in two laws that guide all they do.
The three fold law where everything you do
returns to you three times good or bad in
this lifetime
(Similar to Karma), and the Wiccan Rede
“An it harm none, do what ye will”. This
includes yourself.
Witches do cast spells- In Witchcraft a
spell is a thought, a projection, a means of
achieving a desired affect, and differs little
from prayer or meditation in other religions.
They are not used for evil or to do harm.
Pagans are diversified: - Pagans come
from all walks of life: police officers,
nurses, doctors, teachers, lawyers etc. You
never know, your next door neighbour may
be one! Paganism does not discriminate
according to colour, race, creed or sexual
preference, as all are equal in the eyes of the
God and Goddess.
A Warlock is not a male Witch- A Witch
is a Witch regardless of their sex. In the old
traditions the male was called a Wicca, and
the female was called a Wicce. Warlock is
from a Scottish word: “worloga”, meaning
“deceiver” or “traitor” and was applied to
anyone, who during the Inquisition or the
“Burning Times”, gave away the identities of their fellow coveners.

Gidday all,
Just a quick observation on the above explanation of the pentacle. It is also used by some as a symbol of death when it is inverted. As it says above, usually the five points represent; air, fire, earth, water and spirit (or life). While inverted the points stand for; air, fire, earth, water and death.
Thanks for setting up a group like this, we are all still learning our path (no matter how much you think you already know) and talking to like minded people will help us on our way.

I would like your thoughts on a blog I just posted.

http://paganismaustralia.ning.com/profiles/blogs/biblical-charge-of-the-goddess

It is a passage from the Bible that seems to clearly point to the Goddess.

Merry Meet All,

I like Fianna live in western sydney and love Mysteries at Penrith, they have a beautiful selection of everything. My mother in law who is a devout catholic even goes there as she loves the angels and the crystal bracelets.

MM Rowan Macha,
I too have noticed the demise of many of our local pagan businesses lately. I live in Western Sydney, and we are really short of supply shops around here. Mysteries at Penrith is my recommendation.

MM all,
Recently, I had need of some more charcoal blocks - we tend to get through rather a lot in our coven! I headed for my nearest local pagan supply store and to my dismay, found it had closed down! This seems to be happening rather alot in these economicaly challenged times. So, it occured to me that perhaps we should post our recomendations for pagan supply shops on this site. My current fav is now one in Murray st Gawler called Spellbound. Its has a great range of pagan jewelry, books, incense, candles & the like. (Hang Up in the city is good too). So, does anyone else have a suggestion?

The Saga Continues....

Well, the RSPCA Inspector came about an hour ago now. It took 10 minutes to wake BJ from his hidy-hole next door. They've taken him down to the vet.

Grant got home about 10 - 20 minutes after they left. He went off his nut. I told him if he hit me or got aggressive with me I would phone the police. Once again it was all my fault. He reckons he can get BJ back, but that isn't an option. He tried to phone the RSPCA office but they are shut for lunch, so he has gone down there.

Basically he has t… Continue

An Update of the Cat

I've managed to have a good look at BJ and the rubber band issue. It really does need to come off. He's a wriggler so I'm going to wrap him in my quilt and hold him down while I take it off. It's not done any damage that I can see.

I keep telling my housemate that it is classed as cruelty to animals and last night I told him I would be phoning the RSPCA first thing in the morning and reporting him (I had no response to lodging the complaint through their website). He proceeded to tell me that i… Continue

I hate people who are cruel to animals

My housemate has just tried to desex his male cat himself by typing a rubber band around it's balls. As far as I'm concerned that's not on so I went to the RSPCA website and reported him. I told him I would and he didn't believe me. He's now trying to get the cat out from under the house.

I got so upset when he did it. I think I get more upset when I see people cruel to animals than I do when people are cruel to each other. It's something that I really really hate and am passionate about stoppi… Continue

Dragon Dancer (Johoanna)

Yep, finally decided to do it...

Change my name that is. (I bet you were thinking something rude...lol).

I've been thinking about changing my name for most of the year. My name does not represent who I am now. My name was given to my by my Mother. My Mother and I are currently astranged, although I'm hoping that will change in years to come.

I've decided on two names. One will be my witchy name, that I use on the forums and any writing, pagan crafts, etc, I do. The other will be my new legal name. Both names will be connected… Continue

Popping my blogging cherry...

So, i'm completely newb-ish at the art of blogging. I had a live journal once, a long, long time ago (back when life had me in fits of laughter at every turn, and therefore worthy of publicising =/)... but lately i've been yearning for an outlet. Life's not throwing me so much comedy anymore; but i guess my small tragedies are equally worthy of public viewing... even if it's to have someone else to laugh at them.

Okay. So i've moved town; was in Melbourne, now in Bendigo. It's a nice place, as… Continue
