Paganism Australia

Far out it sure does cost alot to be a witch, wiccan or pagan! I've been searching for ever to find a cheap plain black robe or cloak and they are all like $200! Supplies cost a fortune too.
Anyway if anyone knows of a place in Australia where you can buy cheap cloaks or robes that would be lovely, thank you, I've considered making my own but I want to to actually last haha
anyway thank you and blessed be all )O(

My cloak I found at lifeline it was a band leaders cloak had a hood added by my eldest daughter for 5 or 6 dollars Ie 20 dollar all up
You do not need to spend a fortune
To start with the cloak is not that important its how you think and feel about what you are doing

i make my own :), natural is best, have u ever bought of ebay or know of anyone with an ebay account who will look for you, i buy allot from ebay even my boline from usa (not recommended without permission from customs lol even as a collector they didn't allow my athame's ) most supplies can be bought on ebay cheaper n more private if you need to be or like me you don't have access to shops for supplies, do you have anyone who sow's and you could trust to make a cloak, normally to make it your own hand sew some of it maybe a clasp or buttons what ever you choose or maybe if your game some embroidery, have fun blessed be )O(

Er - I personally won't pay that much for a robe unless it was made from heavy duty wool or something similar - after all panne velvet sells for between $5-8.00 per metre, and cotton up to $8.00 per metre - and for a robe, even a full one, you wouldn't need any more than 4 metres. Cloaks on the other hand do take a bit more material but really, even with labour, $200 mark is a tad excessive!!

Have a look at this site - http://www.servantsofthelight.org/knowledge/makingrobes.html - towards the end of this article is a description of a robe that really takes little sewing .. you don't really need to sew up the sides - use a cord to tie it together.

Another solution is if you know of someone who sews ... or look in your local paper for a seamstress - you can always say it is for a "fancy dress" party if they start asking questions.

Also, have a look too at second hand shops - you might find yourself a 1970s kaftan ... Arabic/Egyptian clothing shops as well ... cheaper if you live in an area where there is a high population of Middle Eastern people.

you do realise there is a free solution, there is always sky clad if u have a private place without prying eyes, i have a nosy neighbor so i can't unless inside, some people have ritual cloth's also if you can't find what your after BB)O(

Thanks and i would prefer skyclad (just cus I think I look sexy naked :P haha just kidding, its cheaper and more natural) but I live with parents and they arent too keen on my pagan religion, they dont mind it but arent too accepting of things and that would be one of them, I mean they dont even like the pentagram cus its "evil" so I use the goddess symbol mainly around the house.

Bradley, Your parents need educating, the pentacle's origins are astronomical & astrological in relation to the planet venus and the zodiac star constellations.

well i didn't know about the origin but I definately knew that it was for protection, I thought it was just to represent Spirit, Earth, wind, water, fire. Yeah my parents need educating but its mainly their fear of being judged upon other parents for their son being evil. Which is a concern and almost stopped me from being pagan as I knew that people could hurt me but they could also hurt my parents psychologically and when your parents are usually absorbant when it comes to incorrect critisism... I didnt want them hating me. So I still practice my faith just with less societal involvement and when people ask I say I'm non christian... not pagan.

knowledge is the best weapon and you might want to share knowledge with your parents as if it come up in future they know what it is they are defending and people soon stop when they are wrong :) BB)O(

nope cus all info goes in one ear and out the other with them, trust me they switch off

roflmao yep i forgot most parents can't face the fact there kids may be smarter or know more about somethings, i was blessed with perfect parents not once could i say a bad word against them

pentagrams are the opposite to evil i think they need to research or be informed as most of society, pentagram for one is a symbol of protection and as the hornedwitch wisely said it comes from astronomical & astrological and how is a star a bad thing just as the moon they are both apart of life and are real BB)O(

i hope these pics help i had them posted else were makes it easier than trying to explaining

I have not been around much of late because ...

I have been working on my very first book in an attempt to have it ready for publication in the new year. However it is an extremely slow process when full time work, organising an active coven and all my other responsibilities often take precedent ... but I am getting there slowly.

What is amazing me is that I have still been able to keep on top of my other writing commitments with Insight magazine - http://www.insightpublishing.com.au/ as wel… Continue

Apologies and Notification

~ November 2009 ~

Readers and Travelers alike have probably journeyed to The Cosmic Cauldron Newsletter since the Ocotober issue appeared, scratched their heads and wandered away wondering when the November 2009 issue was going to appear.

I apologise profusely for my tardiness to inform and for the lack of publication.

Due to the Staging of The Druids Dreaming Event and Dragonfly and my Wedding the Day before, I found I did not have either the time or energy t

Bealtaine Magickal Retreat

A selection of photos are in the process of being uploaded into the Temple's photo album of the retreat we held over the weekend, just prior to the commencement of the fire ban so we were able to have our bale fire.

Enjoy.

Some thing to think on

ALCIBIADES II
PERSONS OF THE DIALOGUE: Socrates and Alcibiades.

SOCRATES: Are you going, Alcibiades, to offer prayer to Zeus?

ALCIBIADES: Yes, Socrates, I am.

SOCRATES: you seem to be troubled and to cast your eyes on the ground, as though you were thinking about something.

ALCIBIADES: Of what do you suppose that I am thinking?

SOCRATES: Of the greatest of all things, as I believe. Tell me, do you not suppose that the Gods sometimes partly grant and partly reject the requests which we make… Continue
